Hey, I’m Mindy – social media manager, consultant, and owner of Niecy Social. I can’t tell you how often I hear from time-strapped business owners who just can’t seem to crack the
Instagram code. They struggle to keep up with posting, stand out in their industry, and turn
casual followers into buyers – and it’s not for a lack of trying. They just haven’t been given the right tools to succeed on The Gram.
You already have a job you love – running your business. The last thing you need is another full-time job, running your Instagram account. The planning, the writing, the posting, the
engagement ... It can be A LOT (*understatement*). Especially if you don’t have a clear
strategy.
The good news is that I’m obsessed with Instagram and am equally happy to teach you how to master it. (Did I mention I’m a former school teacher?). Or hey, if you want Instagram completely off your plate, I can do that too!
How did I go from being a teacher to a social media manager?
I taught elementary school for seven years and then decided to stay home with my two little ones. While raising my family, my mom became ill. My new, dual role became caretaker to her, and stay-at-home parent to my two young children. I did this for eight years, and it was extremely depleting. I knew that going back to teaching wasn’t an option, as the stress of the job simply wouldn’t fit into my new life.
It provided an outlet for me to read about parenting, grief support, nutrition, fashion ... you name it! Meanwhile, my husband had someone in charge of his business’s social media account and I’d think to myself, “I can do that!”
Shortly after, I took over his page and he became my first test client. From there, I hired a coach, learned best business practices, invested in social media training, and managed other accounts. This led me to where I am today – serving other small business owners who
understand the value of Instagram but struggle to make it work for them.
While teaching and social media might seem worlds apart, they’re closer than you may realize. My consulting clients crave simplicity – they want to be taught what to do in a way that’s easy and engaging. Isn’t that the test of any good teacher?
Both roles also demand creativity and organization. Designing Instagram graphics in Canva brings me back to my teaching days (and long Friday nights) of lesson planning for my kids, and you can’t run a classroom – or a business! – without having systems in place. So, thank you,
education career ... you’ve served me and my social media clients well!
